Sinodun Chapter No. 548
of
Sovereign Princes Rose Croix
Of Heredom
The History Of The Order
Our order, The Princes Rose Croix Of Heredom, Of The Ancient And Accepted Rite For, England and Wales was established in England by a patent from America dated October 1845 which lead to the birth of an English Supreme Council. This body negotiated an agreement with the Order of the Knights Templar to adopt their Rosae Crucis and a form of the Knight of Kadosh ceremonies.
The Ancient and Accepted Rite confers 33 degrees however these are not all worked for every candidate, the 3 craft degrees are taken as being equivalent to the first 3 of our order's degrees. A candidate must be a Master Mason and profess a Trinitarian Christian faith to be considered for Perfection into a Rose Croix Chapter. This initiation ceremony is considered by many members to be one of the most meaningful and enjoyable in Freemasonry. During the ceremony, the degrees from 4 to 17 are conferred nominally, they are listed here, but the 18º is worked in full and it is in this ceremony that membership is conferred. To attain the 30º requires much work and the 33º is awarded to very few.
